Buckinghamshire New University with e-Formative Peer Assessment (eFPA) of oral presentations

This nomination matters immensely to me and my colleague and Education Lead, Associate Professor Dr Rebecca Rochon; however, it is about the broader education community in the School of Human & Social Sciences and Buckinghamshire New University. It signifies that the e-FPA approach to oral presentation matters. Seamless integration with the postgraduate certificate in practice education programme learning outcomes, robust security of the VLE’s ClassCollaborate and the Discussion Forum, and learner- and learning-centred design of the learning environment significantly enhanced the students’ educational experience as they feel empowered to make decisions with regard to outcomes working in partnership with their peers and with the programme team. Moreover, it also improved student outcomes as evident in the assessment results. This is one of the pillars of BNU’s Thrive28 strategy.

BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT with Using generative AI to assess open-response questions

We are very proud of the recognition from the International e-Assessment Awards for our efforts towards innovating with AI in assessment, and sharing the practical insight we have gained through the process of designing and implementing it within our Foundation Certificate in the Ethical Build of AI. This has been a significant piece of work stemming from the new Lord Mayor of London, Michael Mainelli’s Connect to Prosper initiative. It involved the successful collaboration between a number of BCS teams, our supplier Tintisha Technologies, and external stakeholders such as those within our AI and ethics communities. Acknowledgement of this work from the e-Assessment Awards will have a positive impact in helping us to further raise awareness of what BCS is doing to support IT professionals and employers implement AI responsibly.
